Colorado Safety Sanders Forearm Out 2 3 Weeks

Colorado safety Sanders (forearm) out 2-3 weeks

Broncos' defense takes another hit with latest injury

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- The Denver Broncos' defense has taken another hit with the loss of safety Justin Simmons, who is expected to miss the next two to three weeks with a forearm injury, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday.

Simmons suffered the injury during Tuesday's practice and underwent an MRI on Wednesday that confirmed the diagnosis, sources said. The Broncos are hoping Simmons will be able to return for their Week 11 game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Injury adds to Broncos' defensive woes

The loss of Simmons is a significant blow to a Broncos defense that has already been struggling this season. Denver is ranked 31st in the NFL in points allowed (31.0 per game) and 29th in yards allowed (417.6 per game).

Simmons is one of the Broncos' most important defensive players. He is a three-time Pro Bowl selection and was named an All-Pro in 2019. He is also the Broncos' leading tackler this season with 49 tackles.

With Simmons out, the Broncos will likely turn to Kareem Jackson to start at safety. Jackson is a veteran safety who has started 13 games for the Broncos this season. He has 37 tackles and two interceptions this season.

The Broncos will also need to find a replacement for Simmons in the slot. Simmons has been playing in the slot this season and has been one of the Broncos' best players in coverage. Bryce Callahan is a candidate to replace Simmons in the slot. Callahan has started three games for the Broncos this season and has 16 tackles and one interception.

The Broncos are hoping to get Simmons back as soon as possible. He is a key part of their defense and his absence will be felt. The Broncos will need to find a way to replace Simmons' production in order to turn their season around.
