Craig Spencer of Owston Ferry Jailed for Historic Sexual Activity
Eight-Year Sentence for Six Counts
Owston Ferry, North Lincolnshire - 1st January 2023
Craig Spencer, 51, of Owston Ferry in North Lincolnshire, was recently sentenced to eight years in jail for six counts of historic sexual activity with a minor.
The charges stem from a series of incidents that took place over several years. Spencer pleaded guilty to all six counts, and was subsequently sentenced at Grimsby Crown Court.
In passing sentence, Judge Mark Bury said that Spencer's actions had caused "significant harm" to the victim, who was under the age of consent at the time of the offenses.
Spencer was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life, and will be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years upon his release from prison.
Detective Constable Jenni Wilson, of Humberside Police, welcomed the sentence, saying: "This was a complex and sensitive case, and I would like to commend the victim for their bravery in coming forward and supporting the prosecution.
"I hope that this sentence sends a clear message that sexual abuse will not be tolerated, and that we will relentlessly pursue those who commit such heinous crimes."
